What Important Tasks Student need to perform after landing in Europe

When you got Visa on your passport and ready to travel please follow this guideline from A to Z and i hope you will have no more question to ask from anyone. i am creating this post for ireland where you can search as per your landing country.

Always check on google weather temperature for the destination country and prepare your bag pack accordingly without asking friends. Always keep your necessary stuff with you in your luggage.

Luggage checklist

Stationary (notebook etc)

Laptop with charger

toilteries (shaving/ bath/ towel/ toothpaste brush etc)

Needle Thread (in case if your cloths get tear)

Umbrella

Rainy jacket with cap and gloves

Socks & waterproof Shoes also sleepers

handkerchief

one pillow case and bedsheet in case if you care for hygiene

Three trousers as per weather (temperature)/ night dress/ 4-5 shirts other than jacket

Medicine if you’re feeling headache or vomit etc

Luggage weight necessary

Try to learn how to use google map for your college/ shopping and nearest job places to visit.

Map settings should be set to Bus route public transport. Disable train connection and cycle from maps.

If you’re using your android or iphone please do not forget to change your location (country). it will help you easy with maps and apps.

Change location from app store/ play store = this will help download apps working in europe

Change device location from settings = this will help to understand mobile much better for sim internet and other features

Find your Accommodation cheaper for your life.

1- Check with University First (It is mostly expensive)

2- Check On facebook Renting Groups (Mostly Cheaper)

3- Daft.ie download this app. It will help you find single or shared room with notifications turned on.

When you apply on daft, please write very short message as introduction for owner. Also keep message save and re-apply as soon you get notification for your new shared room availability.

Average Rent : Shared: 500 Single bedroom city: Euro800 Double: Euro1200

Always apply student bus or Leap card because it cost you Euro1 for one side bus travel where the normal leap card cost Euro2.30 for adults. You can save a lot money on Student leap card. It works in all Public transport.

Bus Card Fee Euro 5 first time and valid for 1 year

You Can recharge leap card with your phone leap card app if your phone equip with NFC feature.

Average Monthly daily bus fare Euro 2 and depends on your journeys in single day

My48 simcard is cheaper for student and can be order new

Lyca is another options for students with cheaper packages

You need to check on internet for hotspot settings for each simcard.

Average: Euro 13 for 28 days package and 13 Euro for simcard first time

Free wifi always available on airports.

User any taxi app like uber to reach to your destination address when you exit from the airport

use eircode to find your right destination place for taxi

keep your location turned on for google map
Average Taxi fare : Euro 20 to depend on your location distance

There are two options when you land in Europe

1 – Open revolute bank acount via app

It will help you manage expense and quick easy to setup

2 – AIB or Bank of Ireland

These are physical located banks with multiple branches. Both bank have online student account option. Keep documents in hand and open online bank account. If you have any difficulty always go to nearest branch.

You Can use your Virtual Revolute card in your phone wallet app to pay on counter using the phone NFC.

Always check nearest Shopping store for your grocery or daily household need such as:

Lidl / Aldi / Tesco / Dunnes = These are gaint super store where you can shop anything in cheaper price

Spar / Centra/ Moldova/ Poloneze/ Supervalue = If you do not find above stores, then you can shop from these but keep in mind its little expensive compare to above markets

Dealz/ Eurogiant/ Mr.Price = These are very good and super cheap for your household stuff only but not for food shopping

Asian Stores: You can find on google map because these stores have different names always as per the ownership. You can find indian/ Pakistani/ Bangladeshi Frozen food and spices. (Must try)

Always find apps for above stores and create your account because these apps sometimes have free vouchers.

Average Grocery food expense = Euro 300-400 if you spend wisely

If you really out of budget or have no money, do not worry.

Below apps will help you find anything you need for free

1 – Olio – this app has free food everyday (create account and turn on location to get free food near your location) people do not waste food rather than they share with others before it get expire.

2 – Adverts – this app has free stuff for your ned but not food.

Create account and apply for PPS number. Personal Public Service (PPS) is a unique number allocate to you for your job and tax purpose. This number stay with you forever for your financial records. It is very necessary to apply for it.

Irish Resident Permit (IRP)

Student Visa Known as Stamp 2 for 1 Year with 300 euro fee for first time.

Appointment can booked online through https://portal.irishimmigration.ie/ by login and Keep notifications turned on for your appointment date availability. mostly its 2 3 months later date available. Keep checking Every 30 minutes on phone. Please keep in Mind always use your irish number for creating account for irish immigration because you will get sign in notification code on your simcard.

You can work 20 hours during your studies once you have IRP.
